Ticket to Paradise

The main and only target was Mikro Beach which is around 570 km from Sofia. It was Sunday, so we hoped we’ll manage to avoid most of the traffic to Greece and arrive somewhere in the early afternoon to have enough time for a swim in the warm September sea. We crossed the Bulgarian-Greece border for something like 5-10 min. Then in Greece we had to wait 10-15 min only on one or two payment places and that was it. The closer we got to Volos the emptier the roads got. Somewhere around Larissa the navigation said to exit the highways and we followed. It felt strange at first because it didn’t seem like the right way to go. It turned out that the pavement was quite good, the road was straight and empty, so we were able to travel a lot faster then the speed limit. As a plus it was shorter and there were no tolls. After we passed Volos the road became very beautiful – it was right next to the sea, passing through some picturesque villages and revealing unique and breath taking views towards the sea after every turn. Through some villages the roads were so narrow that there was no place for two cars! It felt like time has stopped a long ago here… When we started descending towards Mikro we were left speechless by the view to the beach…!
