Prehistory

The freedom to travel… To travel beyond any limits whatsoever… Being up to you to decide where to go and what to do when you get there, whether to stop somewhere or not stopping at all… And last but not least – doing this inside your favorite car. Mmmmm… I could describe this as butterflies in your stomach, a shiver that came to me for the first time last year on our road trip. We payed for a half day drift coarse in BMW Driving Academy in Maisach near Munich. Of course we had an option to choose an airplane transport as this was a 1330 km from Sofia. But no, this was the easiest and most boring solution… We decided to take our modest BMW M3 back to the place they were manufactured. It was a very exciting moment and also had to add some more things to our schedule…

At Maisach we drove brand new M4s and played with them on a specially created drift track. This by no means is something to create great experience that we’ll always remember. The brightest memory however from the whole trip were the days after we left Munich. It was all my idea – return to Bulgaria through Austria avoiding all highways and driving on some high alpine roads. I was well prepared what is worth seeing, where is worth driving having in mind the time we had – three days only. My companions didn’t have even a slight idea about the places we had to visit so I drove ahead following my navigation while they were watching the four chimneys of my car most of the time… 🙂 Please follow the link on your right if you want to read more about the adventures on our way back…

We liked this trip so much that during our way back to Bulgaria we talked that next year we should do this again. This time though the main destination should be Switzerland as the mountains there are more extreme, the roads are steeper with lots of corners that you can almost see your rear license plate… 🙂 And most of all the breath taking views that reveal before you. Not only the big fans of Top Gear TV show know about them… Many times we came across road trip articles about these places in which the leading role was played by some BMW ///M or Porsche. These are the places where our bummers are meant to be driven. Dynamics and sheer driving pleasure come hand in hand with the beautiful nature and the stunning views of the surroundings. The decision was made – summer of the 2016 we are smashing the gas towards the Alps.

And here is a little teaser:
